Mount Colden is considered the first Adirondacks climbing site (since 1850). It is the 11th highest peak of the region. It offers exceptional quality alpine routes that require a good physical condition in order to attain the summit without having to be an advanced technical climber.

The approach is done by skis or by snowshoes. We will also have the chance to spend a night in winter camping. Conditions are super variable and can range from many inches of snow to fully glaciated. No matter what, you will have a lot a fun and will live an exceptional experience with us.

Start in snowshoes or skis around 6:30AM in direction of Marcy Dam (4,75km) where we gonna leave our camping gear in a lean-too for the night on the way back. Then we will continue the approach toward Avalanche pass (3,4km) and the start of our alpine ascent.

We will engage ourselves inside the  “Trap Dike 2 lll 2000′ ” to reach the summit of mount Colden, where the landscape is breathtaking. We will then start our descent toward the same way all the way to our campsite for the night.

    Departure from Montreal (carpooling possible) in direction of the Adirondack Loj where we will prepare ourselves and spend the night.

    Direction Marcy Dam to do the track “Trap Dike 2 lll 2000” and reach the summit of Mont Colden

    After a night sleep, we will start our way back to the Adirondack Loj. Departure toward Montreal with 2 stop on the way. First one at a small coffe shop to drink a good coffee or a warm cider and a second one at "Mountaineers" which is the best outdoor store of the East coast!
